Computer not powering up

Hi, I wondered if anyone here could give me some advice.

I have a computer which is about 18 months old (just) and was a custom build that I bought from a friend of a friend, however, it's recently started playing up.

Basically, when I try to turn it on, the light comes on but nothing starts up (no bleeps, fan etc). So I try turning it off at the mains and try again - eventually, after up to 20 attempts, it starts up.

Can anyone make any suggestion as to what may be causing this?

Sounds like the PSU is on the way out. Can you try another one?

Check no cables or connections are lose, but it does sound like psu to me. If you can borrow a spare psu or something like the Antec PSU Tester.

i would say Psu, then i would say Mobo. Then i would say Borked.

the first port of call is to run pc on absolute minimum i had this problem once and it turned out a usb mouse was causing the issue go figure
