Hi guys,

Ive created a number of threads on overclocking here as Im totally new to it and you lot have been helpful so far so thanks for that :).

Latest issue Im having is occasional failure to start up. The setup is an ASUS p8 P67 and an i5 2500K, and the overclock is 4.5 Ghz and a 1.35V Vcore. I have overclocked the Turbo as opposed to changing the voltage directly, and I have the LLC set to high as well. The problem is that occasionally when I switch on it will run the fans for a few seconds, then go back off, then start up again normally? I wasnt too concerned, but just now windows didnt start at all and it came up with a repair screen and suggested a system restore. I declined and restarted and its started up again fine, though Im a little more concerned now its come up with this error.

Do you guys have any idea if a setting could be causing this in the bios or something? Like I said, I havent fiddled with any of the other settings yet.

I have the same MB/CPU combination (CPU @4.3GHz via BIOS AI tweaker) and I see that "false start" issue maybe once or twice a month.

Have the latest BIOS (3602) installed.

I get the same thing on a ASUS P8P67-M PRO + 2500K @ 4.4GHz, my OC is rock solid, but now and again it'll do the 'false start' then boot perfectly.

I read somewhere way back when that this was normal behaviour for OC'd ASUS boards.

It's never effected my system stability, so in the end I just ignored it :D

Never had any issued with my 2500k at 4.5ghz on that board, but have recieved the failed start once on my 3700k (same board).

I don't worry about it as i'm P95 stable and no WHEA errors.
