I've had this computer for a while - its a non-overclocked 4800+ (S939) with a single 8800GTS (also stock, bar the Accelero S1 passive heatsink and zalman ramsinks), 4GB of DDR400 (4x1GB) on an old generic nforce mobo (think its a Winfast) and a Creative XiFi Gamer soundcard.

As of yesterday, it refuses to boot - it goes through the post okay, I can get into the bios (and have already disabled any auto shut-off features) or start booting Vista but it cuts out shortly after. I've tried clearing the CMOS, unplugging the various drives, swapping out the memory, re-seating the CPU and the expansion cards to no avail - it still turns itself off after 15-30 seconds.

The PSU is a 650w Hiper modular PSU rated for SLi, so it should be more than enough to power the rig - it only has 2 x HDD and one DVD-RW. Still, it does seem to be the only part that hasn't been swapped out - any ideas? Are there any known PSU faults that could cause the PC to switch off?

to me it sounds like a ram or power supply issue mate, (if you have disabled the auto turn off features)

have you tried booting with just 1 stick of ram.? and go through all 4 sticks 1 at a time :)

and have a go at using a spare psu if you have one to see if that solves it.

whats the temps in the bios.? (if it stays on long enough)

and also what voltages is the psu giving out on the 12/5/3.3v lines.?
