odd this one.

Ive got XP and Win 7 on seperate internal drives, now i went into XP yesterday to do something, but it took ages to load, like the drive was on a major go slow, so i tried restarting it, and then i kept getting a message about a SYTEM file being either missing or corrupt, so to put the XP CD in and do a repair.

Well i thought ill do it later, so ill just go back into Win 7, went into that and did a virus scan, that took about 4 hrs to do as it went on a major go slow again when it got to me XP drive, was like flicking through some files, pausing, flicking through some more pausing, repeat till done.

After that, i dug out me XP CD to do a repair on it, put the CD in, but when i got to the recovery console, i didnt know what to type in to repair it (as ive never used it before), all i could do was type in dir to bring the directory up lol, so i restarted to go back into me Win 7 so i could get on the net to find out what i needed to do to fix it, but when i restarted, i forgot to select me Win 7 drive to boot, so it was still going to try XP, but odd thing was, it booted fine, and was fine all night.

Anyway today, boots into win 7, just browsing the net, comp restarts, then its struggling to boot, going off and on, so im thinking a power problem.

Left it off for a few minutes then tried again, started loading up the desktop, restarted again, repeat the struggling from before.

Tried to get into XP, starts to load desktop, does the same, restarts, struggles to boot (like going off and on), so now ive disconnected me XP drive and one of me DVD drives, just in case its a power problem (PSU on its way out), but ive been talking to a mate who rekons its probably me XP drive thats finally gone (going) from the probs i had with it yesteday, as at one point yesterday, it wasnt even showing in the boot manager so i could boot it up, was only showing me Win 7 drive, yet when i got Win 7 on, i could see me XP drive and get into it, but if i wanted to watch videos or anything on it, they were taking ages to load, so any ideas, could it be me XP drive finally going from the probs i had with it yesteday, as my comps working fine now with it disconnected, but ive also got a DVD off, as i thought it could have been a power prob, so im gona try reconnecting that, and i guess if its still fine, then it is pointing to that Hard Drive ?

Thanks, and sorry for the long post, wanted to get all the info in. :)

Right, reconnected me DVD drive, and so far so good still, so ill see how it goes like this for a while, and if i get no probs still, ill reconnect me XP drive, but disconnect me Win 7 one, as that way, i should know if it is that drive, as it should be back to buggering up, but if not, then i guess its looking like the PSU.

Can't complain if it is i guess, as i must have had it for about 10 years now, GlobalWin SuperSilent 520w, bought from here for about £160. :p

Would you say its looking like the PSU, as i reconnected me XP drive, disconnected me Win 7 one, and its still fine, so at the moment, its only restarting and struggling to boot, when ive got both drives connected as well as everything else, seems to be fine if i disconnect something, or would you say its worth trying both hard drivers connected, but disconnecting one of me dvd drives again, just to see if it is a problem with having both drives on ?

Anyone ?

Just tried gaming with me XP drive disconnected still, and its fine, so if it was a power prob, wouldnt it still restart and struggle to boot while gaming, as that would suck more power than just browsing the net for 2 minutes (which is all i was doing when it started with both hard drives connected), or could it be the XP drive doing it, as its only done it when ive had both hard drives connected, or could it be something else, im gona try both hard drives connected, but dvd drive disconnected, to see if i can rule out it being both hard drives connected.
