Computer problems, what to do?

Been playing up again, wouldn't start the night before last, when I eventually got it started last night it ended up rebooting itself after about half an hour and then wouldn't start saying there was a disk read error. This was with 1 stick of Ram in btw. I'm rapidly losing the will to live lol :(

Well I took the PC to a local computer shop for diagnosis, they've said it's a faulty motherboard. Couldn't tell me what was faulty about it just that it was faulty hmmmm. The motherboard is still under warranty but I've got to send it back to where I got it from for them to check it out, just concerned they'll say there's nothing wrong with it in which case I'll have to pay to send it back, a charge for them testing it and for them to send it back to me (potentially getting on for £25-£30 there!) and be back at square one! So, do I get another S775 motherboard or should I just go AM2+/AM3 cos on the face of it that looks a better option really. Am on a bit of a budget though with holidays coming up.. perhaps I should just live with this one for a while and then get a new motherboard and CPU in a few months time........

EDIT: Getting quite tempted by this:-

£146, could sell my E7400 (probably not worth much mind) to put towards it. Might even sell my motherboard with the proviso that if the buyer has the same problems I've had they can have a refund, you never know it might work perfectly in someone else's system :)

What do you think folks?

Stripped my PC down yesterday and rebuilt it from scratch, still having the same startup problems but I'm not getting any crashes or freezes at the moment, to be fair the PC hasn't BSOD'd or frozen for a while now. The main problem I have is starting it up but once it's going it seems to be pretty stable. I changed the suspend state from S1 to S3 in the bios yesterday as well and now it seems to go into a proper standby state when I leave it on and seems to be starting back up ok when I go back to it. Might just live with it for now and get a new motherboard/CPU after my hols :)
