Computer randomly freezing.-Help needed PLEASE.

This may be worth mentioning- sometimes when loading my computer up and when its on desktop- it can have a 'minifreeze' where It freezes for about 20 seconds before I regain control again. This could very easily be a scaled down version of the full blown freeze up.

I ran the basic test on 3dmark. It went through the deep sea benchmark, and moved to the jungle one.
I think it did pixelate a bit, and it was slightly jerky on the start of the jungle benchmark.

However I use games such as Bad Company 2, Crysis etc- And I don't experience graphics lag on there. Max settings with my Ati Radeon HD 5700.

Just lockups, but I think there were possibly a few blue screens in the errors logs?

FML- while playing Minecraft with friends, bam. Just froze. 4 times today. After the problem disappearing for about a week, how can It just return like this? :L

ok, did a bit of googling some of your errors, and this is the general response to the northbridge error :

I don't understand that quote much, and I don't use sleep or hibernation modes. Does that quote mean that the northbridge error is not related to my computer freezing?

My computer just froze again.
Seriously, I am now at my wits end. I'm really scared next time I turn my computer off by holding down the button, it will seriously begin to damage components.

I am running out of ideas, and I worry that it wont be able to be fixed in tomorrows Lan party.

My friends probably have a spare PSU to lend, so I can try that tomorrow.

When I was buying a psu last year, the one I wanted was out of stock so my father bought a different one instead. I got a few comments from my friends saying that particular PSU wasn't good.

Ill test a new PSU tomorrow, thanks. ;)

are you doing anything in particular when it freezes, what do you have running on startup (antivirus, msn.....), does it always boot straight back into windows or can it sometimes take 2 or 3 attempts, do you get the windows didnt shut down properly screen with safemode etc on restart, when it loads to desktop do you get any error messages?

I normally have firefox, msn, teamspeak etc open. Nothing demanding. Remember it also crashes when it loads up.

It just freezes, and you can leave it forever and it wont do anything. I have to hold down the power button to switch it off. The safe mode message appears because of that. No errors appear when the computer loads up.

I am going to friends tomorrow, and will reseat all computer components, adding heat paste to the CPU, and checking the power supply. I shall return to this thread if the problem occurs again.

-The bad thing about the freezing, is it is totally RANDOM. It can go for days doing nothing, and then returning in its former glory. I hate computer hardware.

Ive looked through the internet and power supply problems describe exact same symptoms. I have a cit gold 550w psu- looks like it is dying? :L
