Hey guys,

I've built a system and its been pretty stable for around 6+ months but now recently it seems that my computer likes to randomly turn itself off and then turn itself on again (sometimes).

I've checked the idle temperature for the CPU and it stands at 37.5C and I don't use anything process intensive for it to overheat. It could happen any time, infact the last time it shut off, I was using Microsoft Word.

Not sure if its a Motherboard issue, thought it doesn't seem to have any trouble posting. So I'm not quite sure...

I would take it back to Overclockers to check but I don't know if its the motherboard of the PSU. And its not happening often enough so I don't want waste money posting or travelling.

Has anyone else experienced anything similar?

No its not overclocked and I'll give the specs out to you now.

Intel i7 Quadcore Processer @ 3.20ghz (not overclocked)
Corsair HX 850W ATX Modular
ASUS P6X58D-E Motherboard
6gb of RAM (forgot the model number but its Corsair)

Anything else you need to know?

What is the graphics card your using with the system?

Do you have the ability to swap parts with another system, just trying to think of the best options to try.

When reading the cpu temp what software were you using.

My graphics card is "MSI GeForce GTX 570 OC Twin FrozR III Power Edition 1280MB GDDR5"

I looked on the BIOS and using Speedfan both show around 37C - 38C when idling.

Unfortunately I don't, which causes problems for me. I guess I'm gonna have to wait a bit longer and see if it goes it anymore.

I think i've nailed down to whats doing it. I'm pretty sure its the motherboard at this stage.

It got to the stage where my PC wouldn't turn on at all. At first I thought it was the power supply, but then I opened up the case and unplugged the powercable going into the motherboard and plugged it back in. To my surprised it worked, however it said that my BIOS time and settings had be reset. It all seemed stable so I decided to ignore it and count it as a one time thing.

Everything was fine until this morning where I turned my PC on again. It wouldn't turn on at all. So I repeated what I did earlier with the power cable to the motherboard.

Its done it again, the BIOS has been reset and I think this is going to be a reoccuring problem. I would like to RMA but this isn't a type of problem which happens straight away, it happens randomly.

Do you think OCUK will be able to see a problem with this if I send it back, or will they turn it on, see if it works and say it works? Or are their methods of testing look more into it?
