Computer randomly turning on

Haha this **** was happening to me once. Woke up to a bright light - my TV turned on and was at windows login screen, was not impressed at 4am! Reformatted since then and hasn't occurred since, so never did find out what was causing it.

How do you turn it off? Button on case or actually "Shut Down" via menu?

What USB devices do you have plugged in?
Disable WAKE ON LAN etc.

Worse case scenario you have a somewhat dodgy PSU!

Hmm, well I did download some asrock drivers, usb 3 utility and thx sound

At work now and have just turned it off the psu for now.

I'll check out the bios options. Atm i have 2 usb2 and usb3 external hdds connected.

Weird its never happened before, but possibly due to the usb3 drivers which i installed few days ago. Cant imagine what is triggering it though.

Prior to that none of the usb3 ports on the mobo worked.

My Fatal1ty board has a USB Wake function. That combined with on/off charge meant the mouse stayed awake so any movement booted the pc. A fly had repeatedly landed on my mouse because of the red LED moving the mouse wheel which was set to "free-scroll" believe it or not. PC then booted. Solution was just to set it back to clicky-scroll (G500).

Anything on your PC that is still powered after shutdown?

Our portable HDD keeps spinning too! Maybe after serveral hours of inactivity it polls to the Pc causing a wake.

Well yes 1 of my hdds is powered and connected to a front usb2 port.

The other usb3 portable hdd is plugged in at the back and possibly in one of the charging usbs.... I'll check it out. Although on Friday and Sat this problem didnt occur and both hdd were plugged in the same.

My logictech keyboard and mouse are wireless and also plugged in which may have triggered it.

Actually its probably the mouse or keyboard. Will find out tonight.

If they are wireless and have switches to turn them off rather than standby, turn them off :)

Update: The new usb3 drivers i installed must have triggered the option to power on with mouse which was turning on the pc. Now I use it all the time :)
