Just put a new 7800GTX in my rig and it posts but won't boot windows, its the same with a 6600 I've got knocking around but put my old x800xt in and boots no problems. The 6600 boots eventually after about 6 to 12 attempts then works fine. My mobo is a a DFI 925X T2 anyone had a similar problem?

How did you manage to get the x800 XT into a PCI-E slot, as its AGP.

Have you fully removed the ATi drivers using driver cleaner etc..., before installing the Nvidia ones, and have you connected the 6x pin PCI-E to the card. :)

Welcome to the forums btw. :)

The X800xt is PCI-E, yes uninstalled driver and plugged in power connector and tried different forceware drivers when I got the 6600 working. I've overclocked the processor from 3.6 to 3.94 but this doesn't affect the ATI card. Looks like I'm going to have to get an X1900xt instead. Wierd

the X800XT could be brought in both AGP and PCI-E formats.

edit: perhaps there's a conflict with some PCI device  maybe worth trying to boot with no PCI cards in. if it then works try the pci cards in other slots. i've had some odd going on's with a few PCI NIC cards in the past.
