Computer restarting randomly (solved)

I built my computer first 7 years with a few updates 2 years ago.
Since then the computer has run fine and without problem. I regularly keep it free of dust.

As of a few days, the computer would just turn off and then immediately start up again.

From looking at all my temps, everything looks normal when idle.

Could it be an electricity surge or perhaps one of my components is failing?
If it is either of those how can i tell?

I do have an open loop water cooling system for the cpu only. The pump works fine although the water has evaporated some and probably could do with a refill

Try a different PSU. Check the front I/O connections.

Try replacing the Mobo battery.

When does it reboot? Under specific loads, programs, components being utilised etc

Thanks, I got a loan of a power supply and it no longer randomly restarts

Good stuff, glad it’s sorted.

Pick up a decent PSU; Corsair HXi range have been good to me, Seasonic and Superflower are also decent.

Out of interest, what was the PSU that went?

Yes I had a Cooler Master V1000. I had issues with that model and had to get a replacement (not the same problem).
I know 1000w is overkill but it came out of an older rig that did eat it all up.

Not judging mate, I have an 850w from when I used to run SLI. Might not be quite as efficient, but it’s platinum anyway and the fan never spins up unless I’m synethically loading gpu and cpu simultaneously.

Let me know what PSU you go for, I’m not the most clued up on them (I stick to what I know) so if you want better advice it might be worth asking around on here.
