Wondering if you guys can help.

My computer is restarting during gameplay.

This seems to happen randomly during gameplay. Its been an ongoing problem happening occasionally in the past, but now its getting more frequent.

I have disabled the system failure automatic restart option and no bluescreen. So not software.

My first thought was overheating. I have been monitoring the temperatures, but the temps are not running too hot compared to peak temperatures I have observed in the past? Does anyone know a temperature monitor program that will log the temps so I can observe the crash temp after the restart?

What else could it be? power supply? Memory? How would I test for this?

Thanks

The only time anything like that has ever happened to me was on an old laptop that needed the thermal paste on the CPU to be reapplied since it was ancient. You have ruled out overheating, though.

The other option, as you pointed out, could be the PSU - that would imply your system is demanding too much power than it can provide. However, I get the feeling this system isn't exactly brand new and you've been running it a while.

About monitoring the temp at the point of crash; one way of doing it would be to have another monitor hooked up and have it on there so you can keep an eye on it.
