Hi guys i built my new rig about a week ago and everything was peachy but yesterday it start doing something wierd.
When i powered up it would restart 3 times (before the bios). On the third restart it contined to load past the bios screen. (this morning there was only one restart)
Now i have not added new hardware since the original build and im 99% certain everything is working so what can be the problem?

What's the complete spec and is the systen overclocked?

I would start by resetting the CMOS and loading optimised defaults then save and exit.

See what happens.

If it's still rebooting try the above as memory is always a good place to start - you could also run memtest from a bootable ISO.

It could be a memory problem. Try removing a stick at a time and seeing if the problem disappears

Done this and it seems to have cured the problem, cheers buddy, though im not convinced it will not reappear in the near future. It went away as quick as it came, last two boots have been fine.

What can cause this, if it was the ram? i mean it has not been touched since the build.

Is it a P8P67 variant motherboard? If so do a search for P8P67 cold reboot. I am sure its been sorted in a newer bios release if its an oc machine then i am sure there is a option like wake from pcie that can be disabled/enabled to sort it.

Download the latest memtest and make a bootable ISO and then let it run for overnight. This should help identify if your memory is corrupt in any shape or form...

I had a similar problem.

I removed the CMOS battery and it booted fine, I then turned off the automatic sleep mode after 5 minutes.. Set it to "Never" sleep. Mine has worked fine ever since.

I heard there was a problem with certain mobos and W7 sleep mode..
