Computer Slowed Down

Hi,
for the past few days my computer has just slowed down drastically from loading the windows (windows xp logo screen loading),and from doing normal things in my computer like surfing the web, listen to music and playing games. I checked if I had any viruses doing a scan with the Norton Antivirus and no viruses where found, I cleaned up my registry but it still stayed the same, tried defragmentation and didn't help, and aswell removed any startup programs and it stayed the same. Then I was thinking that it was a hardware problem so I checked my RAM with a memtest and my hard disk and didn't find any problems. Then I formatted one partition from my hard disk (where the OS was installed) and it improved a bit but it is still not fast as it used to be because sometimes it just freezes for a moment and some programs take a bit long to run. Can someone help me?

My specs are:
AMD Athlon 7750 Dual-Core Processor 2.7 GHz
3328MB RAM
Seagate Baracuda 500 GB Hard Drive
NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GSO video card
and ASUS M3A78 motherboard

got any external HDDs plugged in?

i find that having exHDDs plugged in can cause massive delays in boot time and load time in windows.

No I haven't got any exHDDs.

Do a full health check of your internal HDD.....

Maybe it's starting to have bad sectors or a fault developing which means it's trying hard to load data and thus slowing you down.

Can you tell me how can I make a full health check of mt internal HDD

Either download tools from vendor websites or try HD tune and run the scan for errors tool.
