Computer speakers picking up radio!

Hi

I have a set of Samsung SS-3356 2.1 speakers (there's not a lot of choice out here!). For some time I noticed some kind of crackle, or static but wasn't sure where it was coming from.

Then, the other day I placed my ear close to the two small speakers, and can distinctly hear radio!

It doesn't matter whether the computer is on or off - as long as the speakers are switched on (mains powered), I can pick up this radio station.

Is this common? Is there any way to stop it?

i used to have this through my sony cd walkman if i had it plugged into the mains, it was really really quiet, and no-one would believe me that it was there (even after they'd tried to listen to it!)

i've since thrown it away after it broke years later, and never had a problem with my mp3

My old Logitech X530 did this too, but German radio.

i had this

to fix it i just played around with my speaker wires, make sure they are not in a coil or circle sorta shape and just fiddle around until it stops - other than that im afraid there is no easy fix unless you like earth them or something :s

I don't pick up radio (although i have experienced that before) but my Medusa headphones pick up the signals to/from my wireless card and makes buzzing noises every time something is transferred through the net. This means that playing online games (which is what i wanted them for) gives me constant buzzing.

I don't get it with my Aego's so it must be unprotected cable going to the headphones

My guitar amp does it too, if I turn it right up I can listen to it's distorted French goodness.....I choose not to however.

I've got the X530s too, and they pick up foreign radio in the evenings - not quite sure what language.

Funny thing is, I know someone who lives in Nottingham with the same speakers, and he picks up the very same radio station.

Strangely though, it only happens if I have the volume right down. As I turn the volume up, the radio gets quieter.

I used to pick up taxi/police transmission when they were driving past my house. Old old speakers about 8 years ago

I got a mate who seems prone to this.

He keeps picking up the local Taxis though - not radio???

He got it with a set of Genuis Speakers ( PAH! ) then I gave him a set of Cambridge SoundWorks and it stopped... He was fine for about a year, and now, he is getting it again!!!
