Hey all,

Seeking some advice for this incident.

Scenario: When I restart the computer via Windows Orb --> little arrow --> Restart, it starts the shutdown process quickly.

However, once it has started to restart it pauses on the motherboard screen for a considerable time longer then if it was a cold start and then when it gets to "Starting Windows" the logo does not appear for a considerable amount of time either, increasing boot time by around 1-2 mins.

If I do a cold start on the machine it is into Windows within less then 30 seconds, just when I issue the Windows Restart command it seems to take forever to restart.

Any ideas what this could be?

Thanks,
Evoss

start by unplugging devices, and see if one particular device is hanging it up. That includes internal drives, obviously not your boot drive mind.

I had a similar problem with an older sata1 maxtor HD, when I disconnected it the pc started fine, so I just sold the maxtor and bought a new spare drive.

Try disabling all startup programs and non microsoft services. "Msconfig" run command if you don't already know that?

Try that and see what it's like?
