Computer trouble

Somthing happened my pc tonight. I was in a middle of a online game and the game just froze and the the screen went totally black. I couldnt get into the taskbar and this was like this for 2-3 mins so my only option was to turn off the pc by plugging it out

It restarted okay but its a lot slower now at the welcome screen and that black
screen wasnt there before

Not right at all tbh

Im a bit stumped to what has happened. Iv a felling the crashing from that game wasnt the game it self but maybe a hardware fault on my computer?

Im a bit worried tbh.

my specs are
2x GTX 570
Intel Core i5-2500K
8gb ram
MSI P67A-GD53 (B3), Intel P67, ATX, DDR3

What Hard Disk have you got?

Might be worth running a check on it especially if its a SSD might have damaged some
sectors on the drive but by the look of the load times its a normal mechanical drive so do
a scandisk on the drive and see if there are any errors going on that could be a problem
that would slow down your boot times.

thanks for the reply shadz, I forgot to say what the hard drive is Samsung SpinPoint F3 1000GB, SATA II

all looks fine from chkdsk have you tried reducing your system to the minimum like 1 gfx card and 1 stick of ram

Seems like your GPU has overheated and maybe with you leaving it 2-3 minutes before restarting the heat has damaged something on the card.

If it's overclocked set it back to stock clocks and run a stress test on it. Something like furmark, unigine heaven or 3dmark. Record temperatures whilst doing so as well.
