computer troubles :(

My computer is failing to boot. I attempted to turn it on this morning but it failed to make a post beep, which it normally does, and the monitor failed to recognise an input. The computer sounds and appears to be running fine; the fans all work, the cd drive spins and the motherboard has a green light. There is no issue with the monitor (I have tested it with a laptop), but i am unable to swap components out to test.

It's been a bit dodgy over the last few days. When attempting to boot, the monitor has failed several times to register an input, but eventually started after a few tries. Over the passed few weeks games have also been freezing occasionally and after closing games the monitor flashes a few times.

Rig specs below:

E2140 @ 2.8
4850
Asus p5k
2 gig crucial ballistix pc6400 (i think)

The mobo doesn't have integrated graphics and i was thinking this sounded like an issue with the graphics card but i wasn't sure if lack of graphics caused a failure of post beep.

thanks for any help ;)

My 4850 doesn't have any diagnostic lights unfortunately.

I've just tried switching the RAM sticks round and that had no effect.

Still cant work this one out. I don't think its the ram as I have taken them out leaving either in. I think it might be the gfx card. Would there be a post issue if there was no gfx detected?
