Computer turning on then off repeatedly

Just finished my first build, plugged it in and everything and it turns on then a couple of seconds later it will turn off again and around 4 seconds later it turns back on again, it does this repeatedly. What are the causes of this?

Are all cables plugged in? (CPU, motherboard, GPU power etc?)
Did you use standoffs?

All cables are plugged in and what are standoffs?

Motherboard standoffs, you need to install them before screwing the motherboard into the case. If you don't you could end up seriously damaging your motherboard.

they have been screwed in.

Try using 1 stick of RAM and see if that helps. If not, try using the 1 stick in different slots on the mobo. Could also try removing the graphics card.

As above try with just one stick of memory, then try with no grfx card and maybe a bios reset.

Take the CMOS battery out for a few seconds and then pop it back in

Also check the 4pin connection for the CPU. If the CPU doesn't get enough power it can do this reboot loop thing

Any chance you can post a photo of your mobo. That way we can see if anything is amiss.

Is it getting past POST? Or is it cutting out before/during?

Sounds like a weird boot loop due to a shortage somewhere, not sure if this can happen from having the front panel reset sw in the wrong place causing it to constantly short.

Could also be a lack of power to the mobo like others have said, ensure the 24pin is in correctly and the 4/6 pin is connected properly.

Also ensure the CPU fan is plugged in to the correct 2/4 pin connector on the motherboard.

Doesn't appear to be the ram, I have removed one stick and it still doesn't work

EDIT: removed the graphics card and it still doesn't work
