hey, i got a new computer in feb

windows 7 x64 up to date
i5 2500k
asus p8p67 pro (using the onboard network connection)
4gb of that corsair xms3 stuff
Samsung spinpoint f3 1tb sata2 HDD

need to know anything else?

when my girlfriend transfers large files (1gb+) off of my computer over the network my computer starts to go really slow. sometimes this issue is persistant even once the network transfer has finished.

i really have no clue what could be causing the issue =/ any ideas?

windows 7 x86

forgot to mention in the first post that the data she is accessing is stored on a secondary drive

1TB WD Caviar Green

Edit: the caviar green used to be in my old computer and i didn't have this problem on that computer, originally i thought it was because of the intel chipset fault but (also forgot to mention this it was late) the problem is there with me B3 revision motherboard.

We have experienced similar issues at work although mainly between Windows 7 and Server 2003 or Windows 7 and Windows XP machines, basically between different generations of the OS.
It was down to the TCP autotuning feature of Windows 7/Server 2008, I've also seen SMB2 causing similar issues but it seems unlikely to be causing the problem you are having.
