Computer update suggestions pl

Hello,

Below my current system, it's running good but perhaps it's time for a little update like the CPU and MOBO

Intel Pentium 4 3.0GHz
Zalman CNPS7000A-Cu
XFX 6800GT 256Mb
Creative Audigy 2 ZS
Abit IC7-Max3
OCZ 1Gb kit EL DDR pc-3200
2x WD Raptor 36.7GB S-ATA RAID0
Maxtor DiamondMax S-ATA 120GB
Plextor PX-708A
Plextor PX-116A
Antec TrueBlue 480

What hardware upgrades would give me the best performance boost ?
Could I keep my other hardware if I changed CPU and Mobo and would I have to reinstall all software if I did so ?

Sell the P4, Abit Mobo, OCZ 1gb & 6800gt.

Then with the cash from that plus another £200 ish get the following:

Opteron 170
DFI LanParty nF4 Ultra-D
2gb Kit Gskill PC4000
X1800XL or XT

This will give a massive performance boost

Great choice of components, only i would have said go for 2GB Corsair ram.

More then a year later, but I didnt upgrade yet ...

So I'd like some advice on this again please.
