Seems my computer is dying. Have a question on CPU. I have a Q8200 @ 2.8, am i going to see a performance drop if i get an i3 such as this one from ocuk? Obviously ill need a new motherboard to go with it, and ill be getting some new ram.

Ill be using my existing case, psu and Ati 6870.
Also will my heat sink for the Q8200, which i also used for my c2d fit to motherboards that support the i3? It just a standard slightly better than stock cooler.

Not too bothered about buying a new cooler, especially if it means buying a less than average motherboard... not that im saying that the Asrock one you mentioned is a less than average board, but id rather not limit myself to one motherboard. Its a shame the i5 cpu is so much more expensive.

See if you can source a 2nd hand i5 2500K somewhere for under £130 rather than going for i3 2100. Not only that you will get twice the number of cores, but with the K-version you will be able to overclock as well. It will easily last you 2 or more extra years than the i3 2100...so you should consider it.
