Hi, so after a few weeks of choosing i have finally put a computer together that will help me increase the quality of my work as well as speeding up workloads and rendering times on pieces of work i am doing, with the benefit of making games FPS much higher.

Now i don't know how to add a basket view like some of the advanced users so im just going to paste the link's.

Intel i7-2700K

Asus P8Z77-V LE

Noctua NH-D14

From OCuK - Total : £449.36

So that's some heavy tech, im just wondering how well you guys think this will perform.

My main uses are:
- Small amounts of Animation work. (Adobe Flash CS6, Blender, mainly 3DS Max and i've started trying out Maya)
- Game development (Unreal 4, Sandbox engines, basic stuff like that)
- I record video games with FRAPS for my YouTube channel as a hobby so the extra power would really be praised for that.
- Video rendering, ties in with above, 1080p, WAV and MPEG 2 formats ranging from 800MB to 3GB per video.

So thats it all other than basic day to day uses and heavy gaming. £412 is pretty much my budget, i've pushed it all the way to that much so sadly i can't go any higher i doubt though im still open to suggestions. I wouldn't mind going for the 3770K CPU as it has 22nm and PCI-E 3.0 support so its slightly better future proof but sadly im right at my budget limit, they also run hotter that puts me off as well. I also have a powerful HD6970 and even with this CPU it's running games fine (Recording is a bit edgy though on high demanding games that use pretty much all the CPU so no power is left for Fraps) so i wont be upgrading my card in a few years.

So guys, opinions and thoughts welcome, suggestions and modifications id love to here them. I plan to get this sometime end of next week with pay day :)

The motherboard has to be an ASUS board due to my hard drive limitations and the motherboard has to at least have 4 SATA III ports and Audio 7.1.

From what i've read for a Dual Tower cooler that is not as good as the Noctua ND-H14 and i will be overclocking the hell out of this so i need a good air cooler. But i do want to get a 3770K i just can't afford it. Lastly that's with free shipping, i wont get free shipping sadly so its again going to be more expensive.

Hard drive limitations? What are these?

This review favours the Phanteks over the DH-14. I do too.

When i say that take it with a pinch of salt. Basically i need it for software called DiskUnlocker that is only used on ASUS boards. This allows me to unlock my two 3TB HDD's so i can use the extra 1TB locked away. I believe you can do it with disk manager but i payed around with that thing for a year on and off and got nowhere with it, then i just downloaded DiskUnlocker and in 5 seconds i have 2TB of extra space. Plus i prefer ASUS boards for overclocking.

Also on that review, i dislike cooler reviews. I've been searching for the right cooler now for a week and reviews vary so much. I've had coolers thrown left right and center, one cooler destroying everything else and then getting destroyed by the same cooler it previously beat by miles in another review and then the same happens again, over and over. So ive seen people get 5GHz on a 2700K with a Noctua ND-H14 so that seems the best choice.

Not that's fine. Never heard of that before. It sounds pretty useful actaully. I like to learn..

For that reason stick with the Asus and the 3770k. If i were you i would get the phanteks, though you have to be sure your case will fit it, it's a big cooler. A few mm bigger than the DH-14

I would love to get the 3770K, the future proof extra and around 10% power increase per clock to clock is really tempting. Im not sure about the cooler, at least not in Blue. I'm looking at a £35 increase just for 10% and a bit of future proofness' that im going to have to think over.

Main point would be PCI-E 3.0 but it offers little power increase in performance and i wont be upgrading my card anytime soon but the more power the CPU has the better i will be. So yeah i will have to think it over. I'd have to wait a few more weeks for second payday to afford it but thanks for the input. gives me time to look at more bloody Cooler reviews....i swear i hate them so much.

Edit: For the sake of money, time and needs i believe i will still go for the 2700K for now. This may change but for gaming that is my main use the difference is pretty muhc nothing and with either CPU i will see a massive improvments in my rendering areas. I wont be doing a system upgrade for another 5 years including graphics card and CPU so for that i belive the 2700K is the way for me to go :)

I will aim for the 3770K though if i can, but at the moment im geared to the 2700K, sadly time is not my friend so, time will tell. Ironically.
