Hi, i have a computer upstairs and everything is running silent apart from 2 x samsung F3 HDD. they are quite loud.
the computer is sat on wooden floor upstairs and the noise is vibrating down in to the living room is there anything i can sit the computer on to avoid this noise?

Thanks

Try re-seating the drives, either loosening or tightening then.

Also - You could stand the PC on a very heavy marble slab? Or try a patio/paving slab

There's nothing like adding a lot of mass to cut vibration.

If going flat ouyt - Maybe add a rubber sheet in between the PC and the slab to dissipate the vibration.

I have a PC on my desk that vibrates a little,

Stood it on a couple of cheap upside down mouse mats.

The foam cuts the vibration, and the shiny side of the mouse mat being face down helps it slide on the desk when I wish to move it.

The bungee mod will cure it better than pretty much anything else. Bungee cord does wonders for isolating vibrations.

I have a cosmos case and samsung drives with a vibration problem... sorted by using pipe insulation on the lower support rails

I hate how snug the HDD racks are in my HAF :( I couldn't do a "bungee mod" as the bungee cord (although only 2mm) was too thick and didn't actually dampen the vibrations :( if I use elastic bands, it works fine lol (two elastic bands, looped together, then tied off around the hdd rack (out of sight, naturally)

I change the bands every month or so just in case they decide to snap or perish or anything... Wouldn't be good lol

Almost makes me want to drill out the rivets and just run four, long vertical bungee "rails" and use P-Clamps like tealc did here lol - would probably free up airflow from my front fan too :)
