I reset the CMOS on my MSI motherboard, and now it will not load windows, it gives the message Reboot and select proper boot device. I can see the drives on the boot priority screen, but they are not loading windows. Can anybody help please?

Welcome to the forum! Have you set the SSD or HDD to be the first boot device in the priority?

Sounds like it’s trying to boot from elsewhere just and not finding any boot loader.

Yes I have both drives set in the BIOS, but it gives the same error.

I have found CSM in the boot options, it has a star against it. I try to disable it, but although I save and exit it makes no difference to the errors saying no boot option. If I go back into the boot option in the BIOS it still says enabled?

I disabled csm and the two bootable drives disappeared, when I reenabled it they reappeared.

After disabling CSM did you save and restart and both drives are not visible?

Also do you know what drive has the boot partition? Is the boot partition on the same drive as the windows installation? (This happened to me 2 boot partitions). Unlikely but you may have some combination of the above and one is corrupted but is stopping the system from reading the different boot drive etc.

You can use diskpart utility from windows installation media to locate the efi partition and try to repair by copying files etc but if all else fails then remove one ssd and reinstall windows. You should still have you files in windows old.

Thank you, the honest answer is I don’t know. I have raised a ticket with the company that built the PC, they have been Very good before. I will post if they resolve the problem thanks for your reply.

Thanks for the reply, but no that isn’t an option.I have now made a bootable disk, but it is not being found when I boot up. I am still getting the same error.

If you have an encrypted drive, you need to have the drive key loaded into the BIOS or it can't read them. By clearing the BIOS did you clear the drive key?

The other possibility is that your drive is set to something like RAID but it should be AHCI.

Rather than going round in circles it might be best to post photos or a quick video of your current bios options - might be something simple that you've missed
