Computer will not switch off !!

So I purchased a new mobo (gigabyte mini-itx) and case, the rest is from my old (yet still very new) and when switching off, it manages to reach the shutting down screen on W7 and then the screen goes black as if it where switching off but the hardware stays on, fans spinning, hard drive spinning, cpu cooler etc etc...

my theory is that i will have to install a fresh copy of w7 on the HD but need your opinions???

Have you tried switching it off manually and then seeing if it happens again, or is this a recurring problem?

It is usual to do a new OS install when you have a new mobo.

My gigabyte mobo does this too, all the hardware stays on for another 30 seconds or so and then it shuts down fully

ive updated the bios and it doesnt do it anymore

Happens everytime ! Not just a one off.... cant see why an OS would cause this though :/

Have you tried update to latest BIOS delete any chipset drivers from previous M'board and reinstall latest from Gigabyte download.

Reinstallation of the OS & maybe a BIOS update.

OS's act strangely when hardware is swapped or upgraded. Always do a fresh install!

Thanks for the suggestions, shall try a bios update first but fear I may have to succome to a fulk os install
