edit: nevermind, problem found. Apparently my old spare card is faulty too. I plugged in my main HD4850 and it booted fine. I need to stop preemptively making threads before testing everything.
Hey guys. A friend has just brought his computer round for me to look at, but I can't figure out what's wrong with it. When I boot it, it gives 2 quick beeps, then a second pause then 8 more beeps. Nothing happens on the screen whatsoever. The mobo is a MSI K9N Neo which is using AMI BIOS according to the label on the motherboard. I googled for the beep codes and found:
1 long, 8 short | Display test failure | The video adapter is either missing or defective
That's the closest I could find, but it's not 1 long beep then 8 short. It's 2 short then 8 slightly longer but not long beeps lol. Anyway, I replaced the video card with a spare one I have and got the same error.
Any ideas on what else might be causing the problem?
Cheers
