Hi All,

My computer was working perfectly last night, I had an update to install (not sure which but Windows had downloaded it for me), so I shut down the PC and let the update install.

Now however, I'm unable to boot the computer, the majority of the time I get a black screen regardless of if I boot in safe mode or not during one attempted boot I saw a BIOS error message.

Is there anyway I can try a different way of booting, or reinstall files/the whole OS from the Vista disks?

My specs are: Intel i7 920, 6GB RAM, Nvidia 260.

The computer makes all the usual sounds - fans getting loud then quite etc, but I can't here the Vista sounds nor can I see a picture AFTER the initial motherboard/boot options screen.

Any help would be much appreciated.

EDIT - Or so he says, after about 10 minutes of waiting for safe mode boot, it's come to life and is configuring updates. I'll let you know if I have any more difficulties.

Cheers,
Sam

Insert your Vista disk and let it boot up. You should see an option to 'repair your computer'. From here there's an option to fix problems that prevent Windows from starting up - run it. If this fails you could try a system restore which is located under the 'repair your computer' menu also. What exactly is the BIOS error your getting?
