Usually a hardware problem of some sort, the PC is freezing during the scanning process as the BIOS looks aroiund for what bits are attached. Might be a simple bad connection, might be something failed. You'll have to start disconnecting things, unplug all the HDs apart from the boot drive, remove all sticks of RAM other than the first one, and try again.

cheers guys i have removed my heatsink cleaned the thermal paste of both the cpu and the cooler with some tissue, waiting for my artic thermal paste to arrive gonna try that 1st dont think thats the prob tho cos my cpu never goes above 27c so overheating and a loose fitted cpu cant be the problem. My keyboard is connected yeah. I did upgrade my pc to 4gb ram only had 2gb b4 but it always loaded up fine i no win 32bit wont let u run 4gb it comes out at 2.95gb but i will try removing the new sticks of ram i put in, i bought them from this site so if they are faulty can they be returned only had them 2 weeks?

cheers again

Check by running with the new ram only.

It could be a prob with your mobo supporting 4gb or 4 sticks.
If you can get into the BIOS maybe the ram settings need changing.

hi mate my mo board supports up to 8gb anyway i put new paste on my heatsink reinstalled it turned on my pc it worked then it froze after about 5 mins, so i took the 2 new sticks of ram out fired it up and it seems to be fine now, very strange indeed is there a program i can use to find out if the memory is not working properly?

thanks again
