Weird problem but my pc hangs on bootup during the post process when its updating the DMI information.

Thing is, I've tried 2 different drives (one brand new), two cables (one known working from another hdd) and two different ports on the motherboard but it still hangs at the same point.

I've even updated to the latest BIOS but nothing seem's to fix the issue.

I'm assuming its a mobo issue and not windows issue, but I am getting pretty annoyed with it and I have another mobo to use if needs be but I really don't want to have to go that far with it :(

Anyone had anything like this before?

Have you set the primary boot device to your HDD in the bios?

Sometimes the primary device will change when you plug in a new HDD/ODD depending on which sata port you use.

Yes I checked the boot priority which has the cd/dvd as first and raid array 1 as the second.

I'd try going into the BIOS and loading the defaults. Then, go back through the menus and put your settings back in.

Unfortunately I had done this a couple of times and then updated to the latest BIOS as well.

Why is it set to boot from DVD first

Try setting to boot from hdd only

So I can boot from a CD/DVD if need be? I've never had a problem with it before, it just stopped working :/

I'll have to give it a go that way when I get home then as I'm at work.

Well the sata emulation is set to "same as primary" or whatever which is RAID, so the DVD drive should be detected as AHCI.
