Hi all, spec is as follows:

Intel Core i5-3570K 3.40GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W)
Asus P8Z77-V LX2 Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard
Samsung Green (MV-3V4G3D/US) 8GB (2x4GB)
Prolimatech Panther CPU Cooler
HIS HD 7950 IceQ BOOST 3072MB GDDR5
Corsair hx750w

I've had this lot all working together for a few weeks now with no problems.

I upgraded my case from an antec 300 to a shiny new fractal r4 which arrived today.

Thought it'd be a fairly simple rebuild. But once I had set everything up the computer powers on but will not power my screen on... No post or visual display at all. My graphics cards fan runs at 100% and stays there. The other case fans and CPU fan run normal.

I think I have about exhausted my troubleshooting skills, here I what I have tried:

*reset bios using jumper on motherboard.
*tried running HDMi into motherboard and taken graphics card out to eliminate this being the problem.
*reseated both mobo power cables.
*reseated ram/processor
*ran the system basics only (I.e. motherboard with ram and processor in with both power cords and power sw cable only).
*tried a different cable into a different socket on monitor.

I'm at the stage where I think something must have developed a fault whilst switching over the cases. Unless anybody can add anything to my troubleshooting.

Just as a note the motherboard lights up like normal with a green light on it.

Any advice on what component might be at fault?

I think in my own head it's probably the mobo but could potentially be the processor ram or Psu.

Any help appreciated. Looks like it might be rma time for the motherboard.

try removing the mb/cmos battery,it tends to be better than shorting the cmos pins, leave it out a good 30minutes and then try, also try with only one ram stick installed

Now joy I'm afraid.

I have reset using battery still not working.

It seems to power down now after approx 5seconds it just switches off and in order to get it to power on again I have to pull the Mobos power plug (the long one) I then reseat this again and it will power again but then does the same thing....

Tried running it outside case just the mobo CPU and one stick of ram with the 2 power cables power switch and nothing else plugged in... Still same problem

you say you reseated the cpu

id check for any bent cpu socket pins, look carefully and don't damage any while looking

do any cpu led or dram led light up red?

try a quarter turn undone on each cpu heatsink screw(if using intel heatsink then ignore) first, before you look at cpu socket

Hi, I've checked pins and all seem to be absolutely fine. It's weird you mention about loosening the screws as when I originally installed this mobo/cpu in my old case it wouldn't boot and eventually figured that by loosening the screws on my heat sink the computer would boot and has been fine since then.. Is this is a common problem or something? I suspected it may be related to this so I loosened all the way (even tried without heat sink for a few seconds!) but this time it doesn't seem to be related to this at all. Thanks for the suggestions, keep me coming. It's just mu luck on a week off that this happens!

Ram or cpu don't have lights only the light on the cpu heat sinks fan and this lights up as normal

Green light on the motherboard. This is towards the bottom right. The psu is powering on fine. So the big connection is ok. Not sure if there's a way to test the smaller 12v connector

an overtightened cpu heatsink can cut off the signal from the cpu to the rest of the board

I cant think what else you can try, checked all your psu cables? that they are securely pushed into the sockets?

hello,

Just as to let everyone know i have established there's a problem with the motherboard.

I managed to try a friends which worked fine with all of my components. Looks like im RMA'ing the motherboard.

Thanks for your help.
