I shut off my computer yesterday after some time since I usually just keep it on and reboot ever few days. Yesterday though, shut it down cause I thought id get some studying done! After a few hours, tried switching it on, and it just wouldn't come on again.
The red light came on, motherboard fan came on and after a few seconds, shut back down. I put it on and off a few times and then the green light started blinking, but after like 2 or 3 seconds it shuts off again :(
The motherboard light stays on, the fan spins up and then spins down and everything goes off, except the lights on the motherboard. The case fan doesn't come on either :(

I tried a differnet powercord but that didn't do any good. I've tried leaving it off etc, but no luck. I think it might be a faulty PSU, but not sure at all.

Any advice guys? I have no idea at all :( I'm buuilding a new one in august, and this is one is around 4 years old so I don't want to spend too much onfixing it up. The current PSU is a 300 W Mercury.

Thanks

You can buy those mercury ones for £8,and i had 2 go in a year in my old machine, they`re so cheap you can`t expect quality(you`ve done well with 4 years lol).
Invest in a good psu (not a qtec btw! something like an fsp, seasonic)its well worth it,hopefully thats the end of your troubles and its not your mobo.
Try and borrow someone elses spare known working psu just to see if it boots up before you go out and buy a better one :)

I'd like to do that but don't have the time. Need some stuff of my hd today. Got a politics exam on tuesday and I got some notes on that.
I'm going to a well known PC store today so if they aren't charging too much, get them to replace it. Unless they take too much or wanna keep it the day, in that case i'l buy one and try my luck with replacing it :p
Since i'm buying a new comp in a couple of months, I don't wanna spend too much on it, so looking for around a 350W psu. It'l obviously be more expensive than ordering it, but I need to do it :(

THanks for the help :) I'm pretty sure its the PSU too, but wasn't completely sure but everyone i've talked to seems to think its the PSU as well so i'm gonna go with that.

Just as an update, I went and bought a new Jeantech PSU today, only company they had :p Replaced it and computer works fine :D
Thanks all :)
