a lot of my posts seem to have the sad face at the moment, i'm not going through a happy time with my computer!!!
...This morning, my virus software asked if it could reboot the computer after updating itself, so I clicked ok. The computer shut down, but the light on the moniter went from green to orange (no signal) and wouldn't come on no matter how many times i turned the computer on/off. Nothing was coming out of any of the gfx card outputs at all.
I tried clearing the bios, but that didn't help, so i took the gfx card out, took the atx cable and battery out the mobo and cleared the bios again (like the instructions say to), then put it all back together and tried turning it on.
The Abit logo comes up, but it wont go any further, it won't let me get into the bios or anything, or see the boot details screen.
Does anyone know what could be causing this? Oddly enough, the computer has been playing up since my main harddrive crashed last week. Whenever i turn it on, it hangs at the detecting SATA drives part of the post, but if you just press reset it detects them ok and boots as normal!!
edit: the mobo is an ABit AN-7, and it appears to be working, there is no error beeps, but the little number display panel on it goes through its normal series of numbers and letters when its turned on..
Could it be something todo with the power supply? It was only a cheapo 1, but its worked for a year fine, and everything seems to be powering up... I can't test it cause i cant get into windows..
