Last night I put my computer to sleep/standby. This morning I tried waking it up but it would power on, with the hard drive making a few noises and then after 10 secs turn back off, and then try waking up again after a few seconds. So eventually I turned the computer off by holding the power switch.

The BIOS settings are correct and unchanged (from my 3.4GHz overclock), however the boot screen shows a normal clock of 2.4 Ghz, as does CoreTemp show.

My CPU is Q6600 and mobo Gigabyte GA-P35C-DS3R.

Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

Fixed it today by clearing CMOS :)

Thanks everyone

I put it to standby (sleep) because it turns on and off faster.

Lol well to be fair I have a couple of programs that I like to run at startup, but they dont have a "minimise at launch" feature. Also for some reason my sound settings reset after each boot.

I like my computer to be in perfect state each time I turn it on :)
