Good morning all,

Events;

Overclockers provided me with a new BIOS as the motherboard wouldn't load their overclock by default had to reapply it on each boot, 90% the computer powered off after this, Windows was installed on RAID0 (2x 500gb Samsung F3 - Windows 7 Ultimate) and I was using the jmicron RAID controller but I was receiving massive amounts of error logs regarding the RAID not being ready and computer lockups whenever utorrent was downloading (firefox was fine when downloading, assuming it's due to the amount of connections?)

Purchased and installed new SSD soon after, recreated the RAID0 with the Intel Raid Controller to use as a secondary drive.

Installed Windows Professional Retail I purchased from the MM. After install System showed RAM as 6GB (4GB usable) reseating all the RAM has appeared to cure this though.

Now, when shutting down the computer doesn't power off, just stays lit up and all fans spinning, restarts fine. I will plug in a old hard drive tonight and format it, just to see if it in the windows installation.

Any thoughts?

Edit: Not sure if this is the right forum, if it turns out Windows is fine would a kind mod please move it to Gen Hardware! Thanks.

Two ideas:

1) I have had the same problem in the past due to sound card drivers, in which case un-install them and see if it makes a difference.

2) Check that the BIOS is set to allow a power off.

If this is a recently purchased machine, shouldn't you be speaking to OcUK? It would seem the BIOS wasn't the only thing that was being screwy.

Yeah it's going back next week, just really wanted to avoid it :(

Thanks namnoc, haven't got a sound card but with reinstall drivers from the CD and GFX card, always worth a try.
