Computer won't power up

yeah i guess i am lol

one slight weird thing has happened though, it says my windows installation needs repairing. wouldn't have thought that would have been related to this problem ? not a problem anyway as i was going to reformat.

one other question which isn't really related to this

my comp has 3 fans (not including cpu cooler) SYS Fan 1, SYS Fan 2 and PWR Fan

Is there any difference between PWR fan and the others ? all my fans are 3 pin inputs, can i just plug a 3pin fan into the 4 pin input ?

Is this your first ever rig you have built on your own?

I guess that this is quite a simple mistake to make for someone who is new to building PC's.. Though I would have thought something like this would have undoubtedly killed the mobo because of it shorting out on the mobo tray....

You are one lucky S.O.B!!!

Also a 3 pin fan can be fitted onto a 4 pin socket, although the 4 pins are designed for fans with PWM control which allows the fans speed to be increased according to system temperature...

yeah first time, self confessed noob. i did wonder what those screws were for !!!!

i would not have been happy had a broken a mobo at the first attempt lol

whats odd is that i didn't use them on my last case and it was absolutely fine !

Lol at this thread :D

I think we've all made the mistake of not using spacers at some point!
Its a mistake you only make once however!

I used to use the foam that the motherboard would sit on it transport in its' box as a spacer for a while, it worked really well.

Glad it all works now though :)

Hmmmm, I've certainly never made this mistake before...

@ OP, it is really strange how your system worked when installed in the other case without mounting screws... I dont understand that at all, however at least everything is working for you now... :)
