As title, bought a PC off of MM and it won't turn off... when you select shut-down it goes through the shut down process then simply restarts again. Also keeping your finger on the power button causes a restart too. PC works fine apart form this, but as its in the hands of my technophobic neighbours and I persuaded them to let me buy a PC instead of buying new I really need to sort this out asap!

So er... any reaons im missing as to why this could be happening? BIOS settings seem OK and I haven't changed any connectors/wires internally...

Help me do some brainstorming please!

Ok its my frigging wireless card thats the problem... take it out and boom, houston we have shutdown. Now to see if I can solve this by finding some APM setting that may be causing it... *sigh*

check that wake-on-lan isn't enabled in the bios - it may not be the problem, but you probably don't want it enabled if it is.

OK problem sorted, if anyone else experiences a reboot on shutdown go into the BIOS and disable APM, and any other wake-on power options. That was the culprit.

Ahh the warm glow of solving a problem... :D

EDIT - Just seen the post above that appeared when I submitted this one, cheers dude. :)
