fresh fruit and fruit concentrate. what's the difference.

Innocent smoothies are made from fresh fruit yet minute maid are made from concentrated orange juice.

I had an arguement with my sis in law regarding which was best.

She said that concentrated orange juice was just as good as fresh. I don't agree as the water in oranges is not the same as water added to the concentrate in a factory.

Hard to find any facts about this on the net.

Innocent are packaged by the same company who package other supermarket brands. Innocent are no more than a repackaging company like a lot of M&S food.

Concentrate loses quite a bit more vitamin content due to the fact its pasturised and then dehydrated to make shipping easier.

Fresh squeezed is always the best way to go.

Concentrate is whole oranges, including pith and everything else. This then has some water added to it to dissolve the little bits and to make it not quite as strong.

Fresh juice is just that, just juice. It takes a lot more oranges to produce it and I think it tastes like heaven compared to concentrated crap :p

Concentrate means they drain the water from the juice, transport it half way around the world, then add water in an attempt to get it to taste like the original. Fresh is just squeezed and bottled.

Fresh>Concentrate.

It doesn't with me. I often drink a litre of orange or apple juice at work.

On a side note, when I was stacking shelves at xmas 2005, Innocent had put in a bag of Innocent chocolate coins. :D

I can't remember what the note said but it was a thank you, and it also stated something like: "it would be best to share the coins with your collogues but we know most of you won't so fair play to you".

:p

while innocent smoothies dont use any fruit from concentrate they're pretty much nothing to do with fruit juice...
seems a very odd comparision
the difference is between juice from concentrate and freshly squeezed juice

in terms of orange juice, freshly squeezes juice tends to be a lot sharper, possibly some of the acid gets lost in the de/rehydration process

i cant say i've ever had a smoothie made from concentrate, only freshly made ones or innocent ones
