Manly Palmer Hall (March 18, 1901 - August 29, 1990) was a Canadian-born author and mystic. He is perhaps most famous for his work The Secret Teachings of All Ages: An Encyclopedic Outline of Masonic, Hermetic, Qabbalistic and Rosicrucian Symbolical Philosophy, which is widely regarded as his magnum opus, published in 1928[1][2]when he was just 27 years old. He has been widely recognized as a leading scholar in the fields of religion, mythology, mysticism, and the occult. Carl Jung, when writing Psychology and Alchemy, borrowed material from Hall's private collection.

In 1934, Hall founded the Philosophical Research Society (PRS) in Los Angeles, California, dedicating it to an idealistic approach to the solution of human problems. The PRS claims to be non-sectarian and entirely free from educational, political, or ecclesiastical control, and the Society's programs stress the need for the integration of philosophy, religion, and science into one system of instruction. The PRS Library, a public facility devoted to source materials in obscure fields, has many rare and scarce items now impossible to obtain elsewhere.

In 1973 (47 years after writing The Secret Teachings of All Ages), Hall was recognized as a 33؛ Mason (the highest honor conferred by the Supreme Council of the Scottish Rite), at a ceremony held at PRS on December 8th,[3][4]), despite never being initiated into the physical craft.

There's a video of him giving a lecture in the link. It's pure genius. It sad such great minds never make into the mainstream media.

I don't suppose you'd like to give a potted version of what is in the video, the man might or might not be a genius but his presenting style doesn't lend itself to rapt attention. Since there is no timer I can only guess but I think I got through about two minutes and it seems to be him rambling to no definite purpose, without more of a clue I wouldn't like to waste an indeterminate length of time watching and hoping it becomes worthwhile.

You do realise, OcUK forums are among the most closed minded online community out there?

LOL, yes ignorance is in abundance on OcUK.

Interesting guy though, but I can see why he never broke the mainstream.

Yes, the mainstream media, and joe public, like things nice and easy that can fit in a single soundbite. Thats why things very really change.

He discusses the issues of what's wrong with the world and how many of the institutions that are designed to solve them such as government and education are just maing things worse.

Ok, thanks. I'm afraid that I probably won't be watching it then as it doesn't sound like something that I'd want to spend time viewing.

He was a 33rd degree Freemason.

That doesn't mean he isn't a nutter though or that he doesn't believe a load of horsefeathers.
