Hi all

so I have a legacy seagate golfed NAS which supports usb devices.
I used to have a 3tb drive attached to it which I think was formatted in Mac journaled. I have since then moved it over to a pc and can’t get it to register on the NAS. I’ve tried formatting in the Mac format with no joy? Is it because the drive is now mbr instead of guid?

Will I need to change to guid and format Ito Mac ?

hope that makes sense

Windows won’t see Mac journaled natively.

Needs to be NTFS really for windows or for both to see it exFat format.

There are third party tools to help though depends on your requirements.

Don’t change the format without knowing you have a backup though.

I think I meant GPT not guid
I know windows can’t read the Mac format.

the drive is currently ntfs but can’t remember if it’s GPT or MBR

I want to attach it back to the NAS drive but the nas drive does not see it. Anything 2tb or less works on the nas.

there’s something I’m missing as it used to work fine with the 3tb drive when I first bought them

ok, thanks.
so since my last post, I've checked the drive and it is GPT which makes sense.

I'm moving all the data to another drive so I can format it in mac journaled and try it on the NAS drives USB port.

I'm going to be so annoyed when this doesn't work lol
