Conduit/Trunking

Looking at possibly taking a cable run outside through the wall in the living room and up into a bedroom above. Does anyone have any recommendations on trunking or conduit that is slim in profile and good for outdoor use? Preferable something in white.

I'd be looking to run 2 HDMI cables, 2 cat 6 cables and a coax cable. External cable run will be about 5m. Total cable run 10m.

Thanks in advance.

Given you're already planning on running cat6 along the same route, would it not make more sense to just run 4x (or more!) cat6 instead and use HDMI over cat6 extenders? If anything ever changed in the future with your room layout/usage, cat6 is probably more useful then just a HDMI cable :)

What's the CSA of these cables? It's all well and good saying run more but you're going to have to do a couple of conduit drops.

Wouldn't recommend most trunking systems without outdoor cable, PVC Conduit will do fine (galv would be best but don't even consider it, ballache to install if I'm honest).

Only get HG (Heavy Gauge) conduit.

It's been a while since I've pulled Cat6 into a conduit, but 25mm you should get 4 in, but it'll be tight. For reference that's based on a 6.2mm CSA cable (Cross sectional area).

If I'm honest you're probably looking at at least 2 conduits, brand wise, Marshall Tufflex - Screwfix Tower stuff kinks if you try to bend it.

No, I was wanting the HDMI cable as it can support up to 18 Gbps - think cat 6 is limited to 10?

Thanks for the info. Cable selection would potentially be dependant upon size of conduit. I've contacted a couple cable suppliers to ask as they're not all clear on sizing.

You'll be after technical data sheets.

What cables are you looking at I may be able to help :)

Open to suggestions up to around the £160 mark.

I have 2 sets of HDMI to Ethernet converters spare, brand new never been used. Essentially plug a hdmi cable in and it converts to ethernet. You then run the ethernet to where you want to go then convert back to hdmi. then run a hdmi cable to source. This is for 2 separate runs as in each set does 1 run each. If it's something you would be interested in I'll be sticking them up on ebay for sale this weekend. I bought them then never ended up using them.
