Aup gang, I am about half way through my first season with Conference North team Kettering on Football Manager 2007. I am doing pretty well, top of the league (just) but I am having some problems and need some tips. Firstly my finances are poor I have lost about £60K since taking charge which has put me about £35k in the red. Why is this? My wage bill is only just over my wage budget and I still have £5k of my transfer funds left. My gate reciepts have gone down! But I dont know what else I can do other than being top of the league to get people to come and see my team. Any tips?

Also I seem to have a problem with injuries? When I get injuries they tend to be long term and I get a load in one go. I know this can happen on FM but I am starting to wonder if it has something to do with my training or the league I am in. Anyone else get a bunch of injuries with conference north/south teams?

Finally I have managed to sign some ace players but was wondering if anyone knew of any wonders players a team like Kettering could afford?

Thanks in advance.

I started my game at League Two club, Hartlepool.
I sold up my big earners and used loans to cover positions which got me promoted through 2 leagues (to the Championship).

Try loaning:
Tom Heaton, Floribert N'Galula and Matt Derbyshire in your first season.
I somehow managed to get those on loan.

In season 2 I then got Sibierski for free in League One and Kazim-Richards on loan which got me promoted through to the Championship.

Poolie pride!

Bit of a thread revival here but nevermind.

I play as Exeter and I'd suggest that the best way to increase the bank balance is to play loads of friendlies (french teams such as Amiens and Bastia) usually agree. If you're really short on cash, play a friendly every 2/3 days pre season think the most I'ev ever played is about 18 friendlies).

Also in May look at the big clubs reserve teams and offer contracts to young players - managed to pick up players such as N'Galula, Heaton, Stephen Henderson and Ibrahim Sissoko despite missing out on promotion following the play-offs.

Also check out players listed for 5k(ish) and offer £0 - you sohlud be able to get players like Tom Craddock to Kettering.
