Hi all,

I ordered a dell U2311 after reading about it here and deciding it was the best IPS panel for gaming.

It is performing well with far better colour depth than my previous samsung TN panel and the response times are great. I can't imagine anyone other than professional CS players being unhappy with it. However, I am concerned about a couple of things:

1- there is a blue tint when viewing the screen from the left hand side and from above. Is this normal? I thought IPS panels were meant to have excellent viewing angles.

2- I have played around with the brightness and contrast levels and the "game" preset but I cannot seem to get something I am satisifed with whilst in game. It just seems a bit "too dark". (for those who play WoW, the action bars specficially). I heard something about gamma levels but don't know where to change that.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Agreed - 30/75 is the sweetspot on mine (calibrated with an i1). Can't really comment on the prests, as I colour calibrate mine. Gamma should be 2.2 by default - you definitely want to leave that alone (unless you're using a Mac).

Blue/yellow tint at extreme angles is normal, from what I've read.

Thanks for the tips. I think I just need to get used to the screen, having used a Samsung T220 TN panel previously.

Is there some way I can find out what revision my screen is?
