Ok, so ive been researching GPU's past couple of days to see which one I should upgrade to.

First ill state my specs:

GTX460 768mb
Phenom II X4 965
G.Skill 4GB DDR3
Win 7
Coolermaster GX550W.

I game at 1680x1050.

Ive decided I would choose between the two; GTX560 and a HD 6950.

I never had ATI experiences before and I like the PhysX on Nvidia cards, so im swaying towards that.

Could anyone perhaps give an opinion ?

overkill but if you can deal with the noise a GTX480 for £195 is mega value at the mo

In what way would a GTX480 be a overkill?

Ah, well I didnt really consider it due to the noise and heat people talk about.

What about the GTX560, is it good enough ? Im guessing its the lower segment of high end cards ?

Tbh I agree, but a GTX460 is nowhere near close to running BF3 or SKYRIM etc, therefore im future proofing myself.

Hmm, so if GTX560 is upper mid range, where would a HD 6950 fall ?

Tbh the 560 really does do well against 6950 and is certainly better than a 470 - 6870, and pretty close to a 480.

This might be just the card for me. Yes yes, I will upgrade my monitor in future, but 1680x1050 is fine for me

if I wanted to SLi that would mean buying a new mobo, possibly even Intel, and if it was intel then a new CPU aswell.

I would say it will. Remember the noise, heat and power needed for it though.
