Hi,

Thanks for the link Frapple. It has quite a good list but I'd like more on what patch version they used, etc. which they don't seem to have. I'll try and find the problematic games (if I have them or mates have them) and then try and get them working via various means.

This thread is for more of the older stuff as well as giving everyone an instant list to what does work and what patch may be required - just because something is older it doesn't mean it's not worth playing. Every game I want to replay is something older. Sure Crysis looks pretty but once played would I ever go back to it? No.

Will not even install due to a DX 6.1 issue on W7 - this may be old news I appreciate as I imagine this occurs in Vista

THIEF 3

Installs fine but my mouse pointer will not move on screen title pages however the actual game seems ok. Could be my graphics driver although its WHQL on 8800GTX

System Shock 2 does install in Vista and plays but there is a lot of faffing around you have to do. I remember you have to set affinity to one cpu for a start, after that I can't remember! I'll have a look later..

ok mate - would love to know as i am dying to play this again but popping ito XP everytime will be a pain.

Found a few sites with ways to get it working - I'm looking through them now and will try and get it working myself - if I can I'll post how I did it!

Crysis has been confirmed working - so that should be fine. I'll have to dig out a copy and test - are you using the latest patch for crysis?

Cool good to hear! I'll update the first post tonight! I'll have to check with Red Faction as that's suppossed to be DX10 compatible so the 5.1 should work fine - though I don't have a 5.1 system which may be an issue and why I've not noticed it!

CoD4 definately works. I installed it (Game of the Year Edition) and that's it. Never patched it (left it at version 1.65.xxx?) and it just works.

Not sure on none GoTY editions though. Maybe a patching issue?
