Confused - 360 Arcade Question

I have two 360's -1 arcade and 1 elite, and have had 3 others (RROD) in the past 18 months - so have plenty of other machines to compare the arcade against. My Question is this:-

ALL my other machines turn on and go the dashboard(regardless of whether or not the image is being displayed or not) - the ARcade ONLY turns on when the specific input is selected on my TV, if the 360 has been on for 10 minutes it makes no difference. In addition even the controllers dont sync until the image is displayed.

Never heard of that before. What input is your Arcade using (HDMI)?

yes bud - HDMI (The machine actually switches on, in terms of the xbox logo, but that is the only sign of life - until correct display is selected)

Dont know about you guys but i will often boot the machine then make a brew so that there is no delay on my return.

And your Elite? is that on the same telly with HDMI also? I don't know enough about how HDMI works on 360, but presumably the Arcade and the Elite both have same hardware inside, so should both behave the same (when connected via HDMI), unless your Arcade (or Elite) is faulty.
