I wonder if any of you smashing lads/lasses could help me with my new install.
(mainly mobo problems)

Abit of history to explain my expieriance with pc's.

Ive upgraded my mobo on my current machine about 2 years ago, so know how to fit the bits and work the bios. Ive also build a pc for my dad so have installed windows before. (no taking the micky).

But i have now become stuck with my new rig. Im making the move to conreo and pci AND SATA. So im going to do a fresh windows install on a new sata2 drive. Ive backed up all my music and such files to an external Hd. Got a windows cd and my cd key thingy. But im just about to boot down and rip this pc apart to install all the new gear.

Intel 6300
Ati 1900xt pci
2 x 1 gb ddr2 667 ram
barracuda sata 2 HD.
DS3 mobo

First off, im using a togan 480 psu, which from looking thru my window has only a 20 pin power connector and my new mobo is 24 pin. I am sure this psu has the other 4 pin power connector for the top of the mobo, but have i fudged up and need a different psu?

second, as im going to b using a sata drive, do i need the 'F6' drivers when installing windows? i am NOT going to raid it.

ive got 2 DVD drives which will run of this mobos ata cable, is there any way of re using my old ata HD's also? or maybe a sata-ata cable adaptor.

Please help me. going to be taking it apart in the next hour.

If it's only 20 pin then it will still work fine. *edit* I misread and though it was the extra 4 pin plug for a 24 pin socket. You will need to plug the 4 pin plug into the top of the motherboard. But all PSU's should have one.

No you don't need to hit f6.

You can buy IDE to SATA converters and IDE PCI cards.

Plug the SATA drive into one of the purple JMicron SATA ports. They give better results than the Intel ports for some reason.

too late, im just installing windows now. the northbrige heatsink is very hot.

thank god i kept all the other socket bits for my reserator. is there a good block for the ati1900xt? im using it on air at the moment to make sure all works ok. i dont think the original reserator water block is up to it, the ati1900xt is a heavy brick.

fingers crossed :p

had a look on that thread when i was ordering my stuff. Not clocking yet, trying to reinstall all my stuff.

Ati tool doesnt display my card temps anymore? any ideas?
whats the best temp monitoring program for mobo, gpu and cpu?
