What's going on here then? What card have I got in my new Macbook Pro?

You have two cards, the 9400 and the 9600. When you go to System Preferences and then Energy Saver you have a choice as to which one you use (performance or battery). I leave my MBP on the 9400 99% of the time!

Hold on. You purchased a MacBook Pro, a laptop well over a thousand pounds and didn't know it came with two video cards? :p :D

Apple are fast becoming a lifestyle brand with people buying their products because they are cool and pretty. ;)

:D Surprises are nice. And it seems I got better value than first thought!

<Stereotypical PC User Response> Yes but you could have got a Dell for half the price...</Stereotypical PC User Response> :p

Enjoy your surprise. Nice laptops the new MacBook Pro.

Part of the reasoning behing me getting my MacBook was looks. I don't see anything wrong with that, after all many other things are in purchased in a similar fashion. I did however know the specs before I laid down the cash! :p

There is nothing wrong with liking somethings looks, the problem I have is people choosing things because that is the primary reason. ;)

What are you using the machine for?

It's another string to their bow that a lot of OEM PC makers don't have. It can't be a bad thing.

To suggest that their only sales are made through this method would be silly. ;)

well if someone was to pay roughly £1500 for a new laptop, i would expect they would at least try to learn and appreciate what was inside of it.
i know if im paying that much for a laptop i want to know everything about it! could just be me though?

Good hardware with a desirable appeal? Sounds like a good place for Apple to be. Far better than the cut throat low end laptop market. Just look at the bottom falling out of the Netbook market.

Every purchase I make that is of a reasonable value (and £1500+ on a laptop would be a significant purchase) is carefully evaluated to make sure it is what I need and best value. Sure some desirability comes in to the equation but I let my head not heart rule over my checkbook. :D
