Ok people im about to upgrade and im getting quite confused.

Which is the better processor the 60 or the 62, simply because the 60 seems to cost more than the 62 but the 62 is the latest release??

Also i am planning to use 2GB (2x1GB) crucial ballistix 6400 would anybody else agree with this? IF not what would your recommendations be?

Thanks

Why FX62/AMD & not Intel C2D?

Just one of those things i guess i have always preffered AMD to INTEL just like i have always preffered Nvidia to ATi. But feel free to try and convert me which would you go for and why mate?

Thanks

So what is the main competitor (thrasher) to the fx62. Are talking this new quad core?

Im really not upto date with Intel in anyway.

Thanks

any low end c2d will wipe the floor with the fx-62 once it's clocked slightly

unless you're going s939 and keeping your DDR which you aren't it's kinda pointless to stay loyal to AMD when Intel currently hands them a thrashing.

c2d are just dual core like the fx.

quad core = £££

Yeah i was just looking at the quad core and it really does thrash the 62 on that benchmark test link above. The quad core is a little too pricey for me although i do want it lol. So it looks like it will have to be the x6800, 2gb crucial ballistic 6400, and what motherboard would you recommend am i right in thinking the new nvidia chipset is out (640??) for this socket?

Again thanks for all the help it is much appreciated!

EDIT: Oh and i was paying £300 for the fx62 (brand new) if that changes anything.

Please don't get ballistix ram, it doesn't have the best reputation and they don't oc that well compared to the alternatives. Also I wouldn't bother with the x6800 if you are OCing. A 6400/6600 will go just as high in most cases.

£300 changes nothing ;) You could get an Asus P5B Deluxe mobo to save some money there. It would OC very well.

WOW your like a personal computer shopper i'm impressed with the above and its saving me a fortune, maybe all this saving could mean 2 8800's instead of one :D

EDIT: wow just noticed the cost of the motherboard, thats pricey, is the Asus P5B a lot better?

ah ok i see where your coming from, i will go for the on with sli support because i may buy 2 8800's if not im getting 1 now and 1 in the future.

Ok i think this will be my last question (seriously this time ;) )

I have found a asus p5n32 sli deluxe mobo and e6600 for a combined price of £300.

What do you think?

If going down that route, you will DEFINITELY need a beefier PSU like the Enermax Galaxy 1000W :)

The Asus P5N32 WON'T work with Intel C2D chips!

OMG that has to be the worst paired deal in history then. Here take a look

EDIT: THERE WAS NO LINK JUST LIKE THERE IS NO SPOON ;) :D

Yeah ive always used enermax and thought i might need a bit of a beast!
