Confused by CoreTemp readings.

I have been monitoring the temps on the following pc after an hour of priming and am confused.

Epox 9nda3+
1 Gb Ballistix PC4000
Opteron 165 @ 2.8

Vcore 1.45v
Cpu temp = 68
core 0 = 47
core 1 = 49

It was my understanding that he CPU temp should be lower than the core temps but that is not the case with mine. I am happy to ignore the CPU temp if it is a dodgy reading, as I am fine with sub 50 degree cores, but would like reassuring that the 68 degree CPU temp is likely a rogue reading.

Many thanks

Does the 68ºC reading rise and fall when the load changes?

Suspect it could be a temp associated with the power circuits on the motherboard if it does.

Yep, it moves with the core temps. When the system is idle it is only a few degrees higher then the highest core. Under load this diffrenetial widens to around 15 degrees.
