A simple Q really, but cant think of a place where i would rather get a comparison from more than you lot :D

As im getting a new build for a mate, i am getting the feeling i want to upgrade to match his spec that i'll be building for him, however which GPU should i get (for me this is)

the Connect3D ATI Radeon X1900 GT 256MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) on special atm

Or the Connect3D ATI Radeon X1800 XT 256MB GDDR3 AVIVO?

I just cant quite decide  The 1900 is supposed to be the fastest ATI has to offer atm, but i know an XT is somewhat better than a GT... help lol

Ok sorted, hope they clock well!?! Gonna port my Zalman VF700-Cu LED across to it, that a good idea? Or is the stock cooler good anyway? Heard some of them are very loud and @100% all the time

No way it should be running 100% (unless you block the exhaust :D ), mine doesn't go over 50% speed. It's very noisy at 100% but you only hear that for 2 seconds when you switch the PC on. At slowest it's very quiet, but when it speeds up a bit in games you do notice it.

Don't go for the VF700 though, the VF900 beats it in every department and there's an LED version. I read a very detailed review of VF700/VF900/AC Accelero X2 and the VF900 blew the other two away, quieter at idle, quieter under load, cooler across the board. I'll dig out the link if you need it.

I took his post to mean that he already has a Zalman VF700, but I am not sure if they're compatible with the X1800/X1900 series because the Zalman website seems to be down. If it does fit then the VF700 will do a half-decent job of cooling it, but the VF900 would be a much better option. :)

The stock cooler isn't that bad though, and doesn't ever run at 100% except for the two seconds as it initialises on startup.

Yeah i already have the VF700, and know that the 900 is better by some way, but was still wondering if the 700 was worth putting on the new card when i get it, I'll have it laying around otherwise. The VF700 is currently quiet enough for me anyway, i cant hear it at all over my system fans.

EDIT: It will fit im sure, as i had to dremel it to fit on my X1600XT, the Zalman site reckons the X1*00 family all work lol
